I created this piece at a time when I felt at a crossroad in my life, hence the name "Life's Crossroads in Blue."
The work captures that precise, suspended moment between choices—an intersection of memory and possibility rendered in tones of blue. Blue here is not only colour but a mood: contemplative, cool, and quietly insistent. Deep ultramarine anchors the composition, suggesting the weight of past decisions; lighter cerulean and pale washes open paths of uncertainty and hope. Texture and brushwork mark the map of internal navigation—broad strokes denote decisions made with conviction, while finer lines trace doubts that circled and returned.
Compositional elements intersect and diverge, creating visual forks that mirror the real-life need to choose direction under pressure. Negative space functions as both pause and promise: empty stretches invite projection and future possibility, while clustered marks embody the noise of conflicting advice and emotions. Small accents of muted teal and near-black serve as signposts—moments of clarity and moments of shadow that influence any path taken.
This piece is less about a single answer and more about the act of choosing itself: an exploration of how we balance fear with faith, instinct with reason. It honours the ambiguity of crossroads, the tension between standing still and stepping forward.
